Acacia Forest Industries Sdn. Bhd. (AFI) is a Malaysian company based in Kota Kinabalu, with tropical forest plantations located within the Bengkoka peninsular in Sabah. AFI was formed in the year 2004.
Acacia Forest Industries Sdn Bhd (AFI) is a joint venture company between Hijauan Bengkoka Plantations Sdn Bhd (HBP) and the Sabah Forestry Development Authority (SAFODA – 30%).
The primary objective of the shareholders, as defined in the Joint Venture Agreement, is to plant and replant selected timber species in the defined area, and to sell the timber harvested therefrom, up until 2060 in a responsible and sustainable manner.
AFI believe in sustainable forest management and are proud of our certificate to the Forest Stewardship Council® Certification of our forest management systems, against the FSC® standard provides an independent third-party assessment of AFI’s performance against sustainability requirements.
AFI requires that all staff, contractors, consultants, and visitors comply with the FSC® principles as described below. Additionally, AFI subscribes and adhere, to the International Finance Corporation (IFC) Performance Standards.
