AFI Supports Clean Water Supply for Communities in Pitas

Acacia Forest Industries Sdn. Bhd. (AFI) as part its effort and social responsibilities towards its community who happen to reside within and on the fringes of its planted forest estate have taken immediate steps in providing assistance to communities affected by the prevailing drought conditions recently. Kampung Bawing one of the affected villagers had recently faced receding water supply from its common communal well significantly, thus resulting in the depletion of access to clean water for the community. Recognising the urgent need for a reliable water supply, AFI has facilitated the provision and distribution of clean drinking water to communities in need.

The District Office has also supported this initiative by facilitating AFI’s access to water supplies. Approval has been granted for AFI to collect water from the Pitas Water Department depot to help address the immediate needs of communities affected by the drought.

As part of its corporate social responsibility, AFI has arranged for treated water to be collected from the Pitas Water Department to supply clean water to villages experiencing water supply shortages. AFI, in collaboration with its logging contractor Lucky Star Sdn Bhd; has allocated three temporarily 400 gallons water tanks at the village. The water is stored in a central storage area, allowing residents to collect water for their daily drinking and household needs.

To date, clean water has been delivered to Kampung Bawing and Kampung Dalas, benefiting approximately 50 households. A total of nine tanks, equivalent to approximately 13,320 litres of clean water, were delivered between 5th and 7th September 2026.

AFI will continue to extend clean water to other nearby villages facing similar water supply shortages, based on needs and requests.

Through this initiative, AFI remains committed to supporting the well-being of local communities and responding to their needs where assistance is required.
